Create a New Ad Account
If you create a new ad account in a business portfolio, it will permanently be a part of that portfolio. This means the ad account can’t be deleted or transferred from the portfolio.
Note: Closing an ad account doesn’t delete the ad account from your business portfolio. A closed ad account still counts toward your ad account limit.
To create a new ad account in Business Manager:
- Go to Business settings.
- In the sidebar menu, go to Accounts. Then click Ad accounts.
- Click the Add dropdown menu.
- Select Create a new ad account.
- Enter your ad account info: ad account name, time zone and the currency you will use. Click Next.
- Choose the business portfolio you want to add the ad account to.
- Select My business if you plan to use the ad account with your business.
- Select Another business or client if you plan to use the ad account on behalf of a partner’s business.
- Click Create.
- Select the people you want to give ad account access to and assign them the permissions they need to do their work. Click Assign.
Once the ad account is created and added to the business portfolio, you’ll be asked to add a payment method. You can also add or select one later using the Payment methods tab in Billing & payments.
STEP5: How to set up your Meta Pixel
The Meta Pixel is a piece of code that’s put on a business’s website that logs conversion events by people on a particular page. The data captured by the pixel can help you build audiences and inform insights about how people interact with your website. To add your pixel to your business portfolio, you need to create a dataset or add it to an existing dataset.
Before you begin
- You must have access to a business portfolio.
- You must have full control of the business portfolio.
Remember that you can’t delete a dataset or transfer it to another business portfolio.
How to create a dataset for your pixel
- Go to Business settings in Meta Business Manager.
- Select your business.
- In the sidebar, under Data Sources, select Datasets.
- Click Add by the search bar at the top of the page.
- Enter a name for your dataset.
- Optional: Add people, partners and ad accounts to your dataset.
How to set up your pixel
- Go to Meta Events Manager.
- Click the Data sources icon on the left side of the page.
- Select the name and ID of your data.

- Copy the pixel base code.
- Find the header of your website or locate the header template in your CMS or web platform.

- Click Continue.
- Optional: Toggle on Automatic advanced matching and verify the customer information you want to send.
- Click Continue.
- Add events using the event setup tool or by manually adding code to your website.
- To use the event setup tool: Click Open event setup tool and follow the onscreen instructions to add events and parameters without the need for additional coding. If you need additional help, learn how to use the event setup tool.
